Telegram is growing in popularity after the controversy over WhatsApp’s privacy policy. Now, the instant messaging platform is adding new features with each update to compete with its competing apps, especially features related to user privacy and security. With the latest update, Telegram added an automatic delete option to all chat messages. Other features in this update include expired invitations, home screen widgets, and more. Send automatic deletion messages on a telegram

As a reminder, Telegram already offered a self-destruct timer for messages in its Secret Cats functionality. Now with this latest update, you can activate a automatic deletion in all Telegram chats, which will automatically delete messages from 24 hours at 7 days after sending.

How to activate on Android:

1. Open Telegram and go to any chat in which you want to activate this feature.

2. Tap the three-dot menu in the upper right corner.

3. Now select “Clear story”.

4. Here, under the “Automatically delete messages from this chat” section, select the automatic deletion timer from 24 hours to 7 days.

5. After that, tap on “Enable automatic deletion”.

That’s all! Your messages in this chat will now be deleted automatically after the selected time. As you can see in the screenshots above, all messages will show a countdown of the selected delete time.

How to activate on iOS:

1. On your iPhone, all you need to do is tap and hold a chat message that you want to automatically delete.

2. Then press Select> Clear chat at the top left, then press Enable automatic deletion.

That’s all! Your messages in this chat will now be deleted automatically.

To note: Automatic deletion only applies to messages sent after the set time. Previous messages will remain as they were in the chat history. Unlike Secret Conversations, the automatic deletion countdown begins when messages are sent and unread.

Home screen widgets

You can now also add Telegram chat widgets to your home screen. The telegram Chat Widget will preview recent messages and the Shortcut Widget will only display contact names and their profile pictures.

To add a widget, press and hold on your home screen, then tap Widgets on Android or the “+” icon on ios and find the Telegram widget, then add it.

Expiration of invitation links

You can now also send an expiring group invite link on Telegram. Group admins can now create additional invite links with a limited time, or a limited number of uses, or both.

Additionally, an invite link can now be converted to a QR Code as well as. You can also find out which users have joined by using the invite link to see where new members are coming from.

To manage group invite links, open your Group profile, edit and tap Invite links. Here, tap on three dots to convert a link to QR Code.

Groups with unlimited members

Telegram allows you to add up to 200,000 members in a group. Now he’s expanding the group limit. Thus, groups close to the previous limit can be converted to Broadcast groups who can have unlimited members.

Some other features Telegram offers with this latest update are improved chat import, improved reporting system, and more animated emojis.
