One simple trick can speed up internet on Android, iOS, Windows and Mac

What is DNS?

Just like we had a regional telephone directory that contains the numbers of every household in that region, and you can easily look up the directory to find the number of the person you want to talk to.

Likewise, the Domain Name System (DNS) is the Internet’s telephone directory. It translates human-readable domain names (for example, www.gadgetstouse.com) into machine-readable IP addresses. Humans access information online through domain names, such as youtube.com, Google.com, or Apple.com. Web browsers interact through Internet Protocol (IP) addresses and then DNS translates domain names to IP addresses so that browsers can load the requested website.

An Internet Service Provider (ISP) uses a DNS by default, and every time we request a website, that DNS system converts human readable text into the IP address which is used to find the server and l ‘exact location where this website is stored. This default DNS used by your ISP may be slower, and changing it to a faster DNS may increase internet speeds.

Change DNS on Mac

  • On your Mac, choose Apple menu> System Preferences, then click Network.
  • From the list on the left, select the network connection service you want to use (such as Wi-Fi or Ethernet), and then click Advanced.
  • Click DNS, then click the Add button at the bottom of the DNS server list. Enter the IPv4 or IPv6 address of the DNS server, ie “1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.2”.
  • When you are finished, click OK.

This is how you can speed up your internet connection on your phone, computer, laptop, etc. At the same time, Cloudfare DNS (1.1.1.1) has an additional advantage because we have the possibility to send your DNS queries via DNS- over HTTPS or DNS over TLS. This will ensure that no one can spy on you. You can configure this DNS on your Wifi router to take advantage of these advantages on all devices connected to this Wifi.
