2 bodies found near Angeles Crest Highway in car tied to teenagers

The bodies of two people were found inside a vehicle on the Angeles Crest Freeway that has been linked to the case of two missing teenagers.

The car was located around 2 p.m. Tuesday near mile 71.5 of the Angeles Crest Freeway, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Assistant Trina Schrader.

Schrader said a coroner would have to identify the bodies and that she could not provide information on the age of the victims or the cause of death.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, Sophia Rayanne Edwards, 19, and Ethan Manzano, 19, were last seen around 1:30 p.m. on July 1, near mile 51 of the Angeles Crest Highway in the National Forest of Angeles.

Officials said the two were a couple and were last seen in a silver 2007 Isuzu Ascender Manzano was driving.

Schrader said the car appeared to have tumbled onto the side of the freeway. California Highway Patrol spokeswoman Elizabeth Kravig said the cause of the crash was under investigation.
