A few days ago I asked a question about virus infected servers, and my question was closed. In less than a few days, all the media are talking about spyware called Pegasus.
Project Pegasus Revealed: Leak Reveals Global Abuse Of Spyware cyber surveillance weapon sold to authoritarian regimes used to target activists, politicians and journalists, the data suggests.
People across the world have been targeted by authoritarian governments using hacking software sold by Israeli surveillance firm NSO Group, an investigation into massive data breach.
Pegasus is malware that infects iPhones and Android devices to allow tool operators to extract master seed messages, private keys, passwords, photos and emails, record calls and secretly activate microphones.
Pegasus has been around since 2016 and has also reportedly been used to target people earlier. Pegasus is a multipurpose spyware and as soon as it is installed on a target’s device, it begins to contact the control servers, which can then relay commands to collect data from the infected device. Pegasus can steal information such as passwords, contacts, text messages, calendar details, and even voice calls made using messaging apps. Besides, it can also snoop using the phone’s camera and microphone, as well as use GPS to track the location live.
